St. John the Evangelist is known as the favored
Apostle of Christ. He wrote the Gospel of
John, the three Epistles or Letters of John, and
the Book of Revelation. These books are
known for their high Christology, meaning an
emphasis on the divinity and majesty of God
the Son. Of the four evangelists (Matthew,
Mark, Luke), John takes the symbol of the
EAGLE, because he ascends to the heights of
Jesus’s divinity in his writings.
