Every week we give to deserving local charities during our second collection after Communion. But have you taken time to get to know them? This week, we share information about Women's Life Care Center and Joseph's Coat. Please take time to pray for these worthy, pro-Catholic causes during this Lenten season.
Located right here in Little Canada,Women’s Life Care Center offers a life-saving option to those considering abortion. Recently WLCC has obtained medical-grade status, allowing for live ultrasounds to be conducted on-site, helping mothers early in pregnancy make life-changing decisions.
Saint John's has a long-standing relationship with WLCC, which includes "baby shower in a bag" drives for young families who cannot afford the essentials of welcoming a newborn into their family, as well as our annual baby bottle drive, which raises critical funds to support life. The center also offers a parenting group, carseat clinic, and learn-and-earn parenting education program.
Women's Life Care Center is a mother-centric clinic, supporting all avenues of pro-life, with an emphasis on education and counseling in addition to physical support and resources. Learn more at www.womenslifecarecenter.org.
Joseph's Coatserves people whose life challenges have left them in need of essential goods. This St. Paul-based nonprofit free store serves poor and low income adults, children and families. In operation 32 years this year, the organization provides clothing, personal and household items, books and toys at no cost.
Saint John's Christian Services Committee focuses many of the Giving Tree items toward this worthy charity each year; it's likely if you've purchased clothing, it's going to Joseph's Coat.
Check in regularly this Lent to discover new facts about all of our Second Collection recipients.
